MIXED EMOTIONS A ROCK AND A HARD PLACE tracks 12 and 13 are early studio rehearsal versions of these two singles from the "Steel Wheels" -CD. They were recorded at AIR studios, Montserrat, March 1989. INVITATION With this lengthy soul ballad improvisation from "Dirty Work" -sessions we're closing not only this CD, but also our 8-CD-series of Rolling Stones outtakes. 1962-1989. We thought it fitting that this closing track is not sang by Mick (only occasionally you can hear his voice) but by two colored R&B soul-artists, Bobby Womack and Don Covay, both of whom inspired the Stones in the 60's. They covered some of their songs in the early days, most notably "It's All Over Now" and "Hitch-Hike". Here the Stones are content in backing them up for a late-night-soul-rendition, when Womack and Covay were invited to join the Stones' sessio
